Keso leave the Donews

Today's hot news in Chinese ITosphere is the A-list blogger keso announced it was "time to say goodbye" to donews,a leading Chinese IT portal where he had been working for 6 years.

In the announcement,Keso didn't explained the reasons for his leaving clearly. He just said he loved the freedom donews had given and thanks the founder liuren for undertaking his pressure, but not telling us what to do next. However, according to the words,I guess he will continue to work on the internet.

Donews was bought by Qianxiang one year ago, qianxiang promised will keep its independence but things not go like that.Actually,Donews was heavily influenced on by the qianxiang's mop culture to become a more commercial-like community. Public opinion believe this is real reason for keso's leaving.

News from xinhuanet that the first Real-name BSP has launched in Beijing China on Jan 29th,its name is Blog Unite Community(博客联合社区) and is also called Bolianshe(博联社),address is www.blshe.com.

According to the report,we see the register progress is quite complicated.Of course not for freely register, only those who have recommendation or invitation or self-appointment can apply for accounts, and they are still required to provide the true name and occupation and personal recent photo to make sure the reality and solemn of the posts.

There is no ads over the site, and some people deduced this BSP is firmly connect with State Council so they are non-profit and no need to be profitable.Besides, the CCTV4 Channel made a short news report for blshe(video) which implies gov did pay special attention to them.

Googlebot can't crawl here

This Blog has been running for three months, but I can't find this site in google till now. It's very strange, because many blogs with high PR rank linked here and I have added it to google index two months ago.And there is no reason for google to ban its own blog service(powered in blogger.com)

To find out the cause,I added it to my google sitemap yesterday, and today the report tells me that Googlebot had trouble crawling! So google did try to crawl my blog, but have problem in reaching my host.

Let me guess,my blog is built in Freehostia using their excellent free web hosting plans.Since this service is for free, they do want to lower the bandwidth, but googlebot just do the opposite,so I guess Freehostia banned IP from googlebot.

To confirm my guess,I tried to ask in their forum but unfortunately I'm not allowed to sign-up.They say my IP/IP range has been blocked due to abuse. -_-|||

Google Blogoscoped's Chinese edition

I believe many Google fans know Google Blogoscoped,a blog which is famous for its exclusive and valuable report about google. The owner Philipp,a German who lives in Germany while writes blogs in English, announced that his blog is available in Chinese.
That’s cool – Google Blogoscoped is now available in Chinese! I gave my blessings to the project, and know the person behind it (who wishes to remain unnamed), though I’m not officially connected to the site. [Hat tip to A. and Haochi!]
The new Chinese blog has an odd name 谷歌治印(google seal cutting?).The content is totally directly translated from the English ones,no additional review or special explanation.I doubt the writer just use machine to translate the articles and then correct some distinct errors.

Another possibility is,Philipp's wife writes it.I've heard from Kenwong,Philipp's wife is a Chinese woman and her Chinese is surely good.If this assumption is right, then we can explain why the mysterious writer remain unnamed and Philipp introduced in such a strange way.

I personally think people in China may not be very interested in 谷歌治印,because those who like Google Blogoscoped are able to read English so just a few of them will change to the Chinese one. Besides, there is another google topic blog giant -Gseeker.

Anyway,best wishes to 谷歌治印.

Why I don't like Chinese Blogosphere

I don't understand how pacificIT realized that I didn't like Chinese Blogosphere presently, and he left me a message in mybloglog.com which says:
I think it doesn't matter which blogosphere you belong to... Chinese, English, Indo... people can be nasty ANYWHERE and blogging let's them hide without face to face consequences. Find the group you are comfortable with and write for them and yourself - regardless of the language. You will find acceptance and appreciation!
Thanks for his kindly advice,I agree his point that people can be nasty ANYWHERE,but the sad true is I've seen too much in China and now I just want to leave Chinese blogs for a while and try my English.

OK,i know still wondering why i feel tired of Chinese bloggging,so here are the reasons:
  1. Most netizens in China don't understand what is Blog.
  2. Some people take blog as a public diary,it's not wrong. But I think they should use SNS service like myspace instead of BSP.Besides,is it necessary to write private diary on net?
  3. Some people take blog as a toy and illegally copy others' posts without giving a link. These guys are harmful to honest bloggers who write articles by themselves, most of copycats don't have the basic knowledge of copyright so it's totally waste of time to make them correct.
  4. Some use blog to publish porn pictures or write porn articles like Mu Zimei ,they are kind of pest but the portal sites protect and support them, and these bad information would be easily received by the younger generation with no difficult.
  5. Some "public opinion leaders" know the skill of persuading foolish readers to do against rival companies (like baidu.com and qq.com) or nations(Japan and US) or our central Government.and some readers are so emotional that they don't even sense they are just tools for commercial competition or political slander.
  6. Another nasty thing is the Government's control, like GFW
There are many other reasons to follow.I will continue this topic if you are interest - Just leave your comment to let me know what you want to know.

Jandan:China's Digg Blog

Jandan is Digg Digest, our editors' job is to select useful information from Digg.com and then do major translation,so as to share the latest and interesting info with you.
Launched in Oct 12th 2006,Jandan now has 11 editors work for her voluntarily and generate about 13 posts everyday. Most of the information can be found on Today's Digg homepage, the difference is that they have been translated and edited.Note the source in the bottom of their posts, basicly there will be two links, one in linked to the original post and the other linked to digg.I've asked sein(one of the founders) why,he said they are strictly obey the rule of creativecommons, and this is also the reason that they translate the major idea of the infomation instead of translate all.

People in English speaking country may not understand the value of Jandan's work,it is,a large population of Chinese don't know English, and even those who receive English education may feel difficult to take in the new trend words in Digg. So,translation Blogs are very popular in China no matter in Entertainment field or Technology field.

Blogger Custom Domains is suspended in China

I don't really understand why,but it's proved that people in mainland China are unable to connect to blogs using Blogger Custom Domains.

May be my bad luck has affect this service, and my evil prediction come true.

PS:Because of the Taiwan quake, the Ftp publishing service is also difficult to perform.

Will you use Blogger Custom Domains

News from Blogger Buzz, the Blogger Beta now support using a custom domain for serving your blog.

Can we call that a good news?Yes,for those people who don't live in mainland China for long it is.But in my mind,is foolish for a Chinese Blogger to use this service instead of publishing by FTP.

The reason is quite simple:a large scale of our readers are from mainland China, where the internet is under the GFW's control, once the government feel it's necessary to block the IP address from blogspot.com again god knows what we could do to make our domained blogger visited.

What's more, the Blogger Buzz also said:"Your old Blog*Spot address will forward to your new custom domain, so the switch will be seamless for your readers.",that means you and other bloggers have to renew the links for the former posts manually.Boring job, isn't it?Besides, the downtime of google's cheap hosting servers may much longer than yours.

It's true the Custom Domains Service will actualize full functions of Blogger Beta under your domain compared with publishing by FTP.But I don't think it's a good idea to move to the new version right now, cause the related themes resources and hacks are so few...
